A Gavin phoned me mid afternoon.  He began by mentioning that he had seen an email from me to say that I will not engage in phone calls - but ... .

The message when I finally listened was about him not understanding the issues.  He is kindly asked to state in an email what he doesn't understand.

Several sources have commented that this website deals with the problems clearly.

With no reply from anyone within the Coop, I finally managed to contact Mr L Franklin at HQ.

 Nothing since.

The Coop standard reply states that the gift card is invalid within Co-op independent societies.

Google says:

1. Independent Society Members (ISMs) ISM stands for Independent Society Member. Independent societies are co-operatives in their own right and are an important part of our Co-op. Together, they have 15 seats on Council, where they represent members as a whole. 
2. Time for me to be on Council.  That'll keep me quiet . . . .  .

1. With the prospect of a vaccine in September,  I should be able to visit any Coop.  Bodyguard volunteers please use the Contact page.
2. From Monday 20 July  staff in independent co-operative societies (see 1.6) will wear mask stating "Gift cards not accepted.".

1. My poetess partner needs chemist delivery of prescriptions.  I am already registered.
2. Went to the Coop website - never found collection.  (My reg was 6 months ago)
3. Remembered Charlbury Coop Pharmacy is Mid-Counties and found its website.  Told G the story.
4. At last!  Found someone fluent with the Coop empire.  Gareth has arranged immediate delivery.   17 July 1635 - a likely story.  No response.
